A cigarette butt caused a fire in a large trash can at East Coast Highway and Goldenrod Avenue on Sunday afternoon.
The incident occurred at 4:13 p.m., and firefighters extinguished the fire and found the butt near the area of origin, said Jennifer Schulz, a Newport Beach Fire Department spokeswoman.

Nine months after opening its doors, a high-end appliance showroom has closed its Corona del Mar business.
