UPDATE with details about some of the thefts.
A theft from a vehicle in Fashion Island resulted in a loss of $8,250, according to a police report.
The theft was reported at 6:43 p.m. Friday at 101 Newport Center Drive, the report said. The loss was a carryon bag, jewelry and a laptop.
