Downed power lines caused a small fire, a power outage and a small-scale evacuation in the middle of Corona del Mar’s business district earlier today, officials and witnesses said.
The down lines were reported at 3:33 p.m. in the alley behind 3337 East Coast Highway, said Jennifer Schulz, a Newport Beach Fire Department spokeswoman.

A burglary occurred in a home in the 2500 block of Seaview Avenue, resulting in a loss of a watch worth $1,600, according to a report filed with police at 1:34 p.m. Sunday.
