Power Line Causes Fire, Outage in Corona del Mar
Downed power lines caused a small fire, a power outage and a small-scale evacuation in the middle of Corona del Mar’s business district earlier today, officials and witnesses said.
The down lines were reported at 3:33 p.m. in the alley behind 3337 East Coast Highway, said Jennifer Schulz, a Newport Beach Fire Department spokeswoman.

A burglary occurred in a home in the 2500 block of Seaview Avenue, resulting in a loss of a watch worth $1,600, according to a report filed with police at 1:34 p.m. Sunday.

A burglar broke into three cars and stole $2,709 in items from five people who had parked at Corona del Mar High School while they participated in the 19th annual Susan G. Komen Orange County Race for the Cure.

Head-On Crash Sends One Victim to Hospital
A head-on crash on Sunday in Corona del Mar sent one person to Hoag Hospital with minor facial injuries, police said today.
