Former Corona del Mar B.I.D. Board Member Honored
The Corona del Mar Business Improvement District honored former secretary Mark Schulein at its monthly meeting held this week.
Schulein, president of Crown ACE Hardware, received a plaque during a special presentation at the Thursday meeting. B.I.D. Chairman Bernie Svalstad presented the plaque.
Schulein has been involved with the group for more than 10 years.

The Corona del Mar Animal Hospital at 2948 East Coast Highway was burglarized, police said today. An employee later said that nothing was stolen, and instead it appeared to be a case of vandalism.

Grenade Found in Fashion Island Parking Structure, Daily Pilot Reports
A Fashion Island security guard patrolling a parking structure between Bloomingdale’s and Nordstrom found a live shrapnel grenade at about 7:30 this morning, the Daily Pilot has reported.
The structure was cleared and Newport Beach police and the Orange County Sheriff’s Bomb Squad responded. No one was injured, and there are apparently no witnesses or leads.
