For awhile, the Port Theater project was going gangbusters. It seemed like it was really happening! Even with the ugly construction fencing, it seemed as if it was coming together.

Police reports state that a grand theft occurred in a home on Scenic Bluff sometime between June 21 and 26, with $336,560 in property stolen. Details about the crime were not available.

Lack of Fire Hazard Compliance Along Buck Gully “Disheartening”

Of 170 homes along Buck Gully, 73 pose a serious fire danger because of overgrown landscaping, the city’s fire marshal said.
“It’s disheartening,” Fire Marshal Steve Bunting said. “It’s amazing, really.”

Newport Beach lifeguards said 25,000 visitors were on area beaches on Saturday and 40,000 on Sunday, enjoying 70-degree water and 4-6 foot surf.
