Irvine Terrace Thieves Break into Garages, Steal Car

A car thief entered an open garage in Irvine Terrace sometime overnight Tuesday, ransacking one car and then stealing a 2009 Chevy Malibu, Newport Beach police records show. Police said the loss was $27,600.
Another garage burglary occurred in the same block, the 1900 block of Tahuna Terrace, about the same time. In that case, the suspect or suspects ransacked a 2007 Audi and stole $2,500 worth of property.
Police continue to investigate the burglaries. Although burglaries are not on the rise, they say, residents should not leave valuables in their cars and should lock cars, even inside garages, and keep garage doors locked.
