It’s mid-week, early March — so I know it’s not the tourists honking at me.
It’s regular Corona del Mar folks who don’t understand that a stop sign waits on a yield sign, and that no matter what, I will not pull my little Hybrid Honda out in front of a bus.
Honk away, but I still won’t do it.
I’ve ranted about this before, but here’s another thing about my car: the engine does this thing at stop lights where the motor goes over to a battery mode. Then, when the light turns green and my foot comes off the brake, there’s a small moment where that shift over to gas power kicks in.
In other words, I don’t see a green light and TAKE OFF zero to whatever.
Honk away, but it won’t do any good.
Honking — really, must we?
I mean, it REALLY doesn’t do any good. I used the horn recently when something scary was happening, and I wanted to alert a mother about her child. No one seems to pay attention to the horn as an alert to danger, however. We’re all so used to a horn being used to nag and poke and prod that our instincts are to tune it out and think “yeah yeah yeah WHATEVER mother.”
Could we have a honk-free village? Except in true emergencies?
