Crystal Lotus Remains Closed After Crash

The Crystal Lotus psychic shop remains closed, more than a week after a driver crashed his Escalade through the front doors of the business.
The Feb. 9 incident caused $75,000 in damage to the shop at 3100 East Coast Highway. Police arrested a 41-year-old Newport Beach man on suspicion of drunk driving after they say he drove down East Coast Highway, crashing first into a sign and brick planter, getting back on the roadway for a few blocks and then hitting a bench, tree and finally crashing through the front of the Crystal Lotus shop.
City engineers inspected the building immediately after the crash, restricting access to the building with a yellow sign. Clean-up crews boarded the front windows, but no further work appears to have been done to repair the building. Crystal Lotus management placed a sign in the window, stating the business was closed. Phone calls to the number listed in the sign were not returned, and it is not known when Crystal Lotus will reopen.
