Last month’s storms caused several feet of sand to disappear with the high surf near Big Corona State Beach, exposing the area’s wastewater line, according to a city report.
Crews were able to use tractors to replace the sand in between storms, protecting the line and avoiding a potential sewer spill, the document says.
The report also said a water main break late last month in the Irvine Terrace neighborhood caused 16 homes to lose water for up to three hours. The 6-inch water main on Dolphin Terrace was about 3 1/2-feet deep and had a crack running straight down the pipe, the report states. Crews shut down a water main and used a clamp to make the repairs.
