Orange County native Nancy Green met her husband-to-be Todd Green on her first day at work at O’Melveny & Myers — a huge law firm where they rarely saw each other as their practices grew in different directions.
More than a decade later, the Corona del Mar couple work side-by-side in their new firm, Green LLP, a business litigation practice nestled into a modern Cannery Loft space just a block from the water.
Todd Green said that after working for a big firm and a smaller partnership, the idea of opening his own practice had been brewing for months.
“In August, I saw for-rent signs in the Cannery Lofts, and I said, ‘I think I could do this all alone, and I think I’m ready to do it here.’”
A month later, the business was open with Nancy Green managing the books and the business side of things, and Todd Green handling cases that take him from his desk to the courthouse to Taiwan, where he recently deposed a new client.
“All kinds of things come in,” he said. “One day, I’m representing a Taiwanese boatyard.”
“It’s random,” she added.
Todd Green was educated at Princeton University, where he graduated in 1990, and Columbia University, where he earned a law degree in 1994. He worked at O’Melveny & Myers from 1994 to 2002, then at Turner Green from 2002 to 2009. According to an online profile, “Todd loves to litigate.”
Nancy Green attended Harbor View Elementary School and Corona del Mar High School, then attended the University of Pennsylvania, where she graduated in 1992, and UCLA law school, where she graduated in 1995. She worked at O’Melveny from 1995 to 1999, then was general counsel of EquiCo (now McGladrey Capital Markets) from 1999 until 2001 when her son was born. She returned to work part time at Sherry Meyerhoff Hanson & Crance from 2006 to 2009.
The couple has two children who attend Harbor View Elementary School. They enjoy kayaking, Scouting activities and trying new restaurants.
