Girl Scout Cookies go on sale today in Corona del Mar. And for the first time locally, a pilot program will let some customers buy actual boxes without waiting a month for delivery. Scouts also will be taking orders today.
“We’ll get 50 cases right away, but it’s not enough,” said Jan Parker, leader for a troop based at Harbor View Elementary. “Customers will have to have a Girl Scout in their back pocket. I totally think they’ll go the first day.”
Scouts usually begin taking orders in January, and they deliver cookies in February. The pilot program will let lucky customers have the cookies immediately. But when these early cookies are gone, they’re gone — at least for a month, when Scouts will deliver orders and also sell in front of stores, as shown in this photo from last year.
The cookies will remain $4 a box, Parker said, the same as last year when the troop sold 200 cases. Read our story about the 2009 sales here.
