tree1Tuesday has been a cleanup day in Corona del Mar and other areas where Monday’s storm blew over trees and caused other damage.

Newport Beach crews have been busy answering calls all morning, said Tara Finnigan, a city spokeswoman. One area where crews were busy was near the 200 block of Heliotrope Avenue, where wind knocked down a tree on Monday, damaging three homes. The homes had been covered with tarps to protect them from the next storm, due tonight, and crews were preparing to remove the enormous stump that damaged the median and sidewalk. Neighbors who had heard about the damage were stopping by to take a look.

Another tree fell over Monday in the 700 block of Poinsettia Avenue, seriously damaging a neighbor’s 2006 Land Rover. The damage was $15,000, according to a police report.

In Costa Mesa, flooding was a problem. Click here to see photos that readers submitted to the Orange County Register.
