Junior Guards Invited to Founder’s Retirement Bash

Rboyer03-225x300The founder of the Newport Beach Junior Lifeguard program will be honored at a party, and if you’ve participated in the program, you’re invited to attend.

Reenie Boyer retired last month. She started the city’s Junior Lifeguard program in 1983 with 54 students; the program now has 1,300 each summer. More than 25,000 children have been educated through the program.

The party will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday Jan. 21 at the American Legion Hall at 215 East 15th Street. The cost is $30 per person. If you want to attend, you need to R.S.V.P to Jennifer Schulz by Monday. Her e-mail is jschulz @ nbfd.net. Checks should be sent to the Lifeguard Management Association, P.O.
