1. A house on Orchid Avenue burned, causing $150,000 damage, on Wednesday morning. Fire officials say the damage could have been worse had it not been for a Lincoln Elementary schoolteacher who smelled smoke while driving to work, stopped to call 911, then kicked in the door to check if anyone was inside.
