Orchid House Fire Update

fireeeFire investigators continue to look for the cause of a fire that burned a home in the 500 block of Orchid Avenue this morning.

The fire, reported by bystanders who saw smoke pouring from the home, was reported just after 8 a.m. The blaze apparently originated in the kitchen and burned through the ceiling to the second story, fire officials said. Damage to the structure and contents was about $150,000, said Jennifer Schulz, a fire department spokeswoman.

Twenty-six firefighters from Newport Beach and Santa Ana responded to this call, as well as Newport Beach Police units.
