Job Economist
January 5th, 2010
During this BCS week and first days of the New Year, I like to measure job productivity and the U.S. economy by checking who is cruising in the Back Bay at noontime. On January 5th at noon, an AT&T van and NBPD motorcycle were there. The vintage van with repainted PacBell and SBC logos cruised the full 3-mile Back Bay Road, and the NBPD motorcycle officer talked to a bicyclist. AT&T apparently has no urgent installations as Time Warner Cable rushes to install digital phone and high speed Internet. And Cox continues to lay high-capacity fiber along Jamboree. Let’s watch if the NBPD motorcycle officer helps to safely direct traffic on Jamboree when there is construction.
