The Orange County Coroner’s office has identified the victim of a Christmas Eve traffic collision as a 24-year-old Huntington Beach man.

Ralph Abinader was killed at 5:12 p.m. Thursday when the Ferrari in which he was a passenger crossed the center median of East Coast Highway, according to a police news release and the online coroner’s news release.

Officials said the gray Ferrari was headed west on East Coast Highway from Jamboree Road when it crossed the raised center median and collided with a tow truck going the other direction. Firefighters responded to put out flames and extricate the victims.

Abinader was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver of the Ferrari was in critical condition after being taken to Western Medical Center. Two people in the other vehicle sustained minor injuries and were taken to Hoag Hospital, police said. Traffic near the scene was diverted for hours, sources said.

Police continue to investigate the crash. Anyone with information should contact Traffic Investigator Todd Bush at (949) 644-3746.
