One Response to “Police Continue To Seek Two Suspects in Newport Coast Home Robbery”
Comments

Police continue to search the sloping hillsides near a Newport Coast home that was invaded by robbers late Tuesday night.
According to a news release, police received multiple 911 calls about 10:15 p.m. from a home at 3 Longboat in the private, gated Pelican Ridge neighborhood. The callers said a home-invasion robbery had occurred, and men with handguns were seen fleeing the area. One caller also said a suspect possibly fled upstairs in the home.
Police arrived and found multiple victims inside the home, three of whom sustained head injuries. Two victims were treated at the scene, and one victim was taken to the hospital. The victim’s injuries and condition were not released.
Officer quickly found one suspect, a 36-year-old Los Angeles man, in a nearby yard. He had injured his leg, apparently while fleeing, and was taken to the hospital. A second suspect, 31, of Los Angeles, was arrested in a car as he tried to drive from the area. And a third suspect, a 44-year-old Mission Viejo man, was located sitting inside a car with the lights out, parked nearby.
The Orange County Register is reportingthat there was a fire at the house less than two weeks ago. At 3 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning, a Mercedes Benz CLK 550 parked in the driveway caught fire and singed the house before firefighters knocked it down. It was not clear whether the incidents are related.
An enormous search effort was underway throughout the night and morning for two other suspects. The Newport Beach Police Department SWAT team, along with police officers from the Irvine, Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach, Santa Ana, and UCI Police Departments were searching the area for the two suspects, who are believed to be armed.
The first two suspects were booked on suspicion of robbery, and the third man was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. They all were being held in Newport Beach Police Jail with bail set at $100,000 each.
