Why I Hate Sales

I can’t deal with Black Friday. Don’t even get me started on Cyber Monday. I don’t like crowds, I don’t like pressure, I don’t like feeling out of control and impulsive. Mostly, I don’t really love shopping — so forget adding frenzy to the experience.

I do, however, enjoy finding perfect gifts for my loved ones, and who am I to turn down a discount? Or a special gift to reward my loyalty?

However, all the department store incentives, discounts and deals seem to be aimed at making sure I can’t participate. Because today — this very day — is the day that I was able to carve out shopping time. And yet all the special discounty gifty promotions ended on Sunday, or else they start again on Thursday.

Why can’t I get the special, private, insider, free-bowl-from-Tiffany deals today? What’s so bad about shopping on a Tuesday, the first day of December? Why is today — my day — a promo-free day?

Don’t even get me started on people who snap up things like Chrissa’s Craft Table or Zhu Zhu pets, then put them up on Ebay at 3x or more the original price.

They should do some kind of Christmas movie where the people who price gauge get some kind of comeuppance.
