Police Make Third Arrest in CdM Burglary Case

police 2A suspect in a string of car burglaries last week in Corona del Mar, who led police on a massive search of the Shore Cliffs neighborhood, has been arrested, police reports state.

The 18-year-old North Hollywood man was arrested on suspicion of burglary Monday afternoon at the police department, records state. His bail was set at $20,000.

The man was the third suspect to be arrested in connection with a string of 13 car thefts and burglaries that occurred in Corona del Mar, many in the Cameo Highlands neighborhood, early on Nov. 24. Two suspects were caught and arrested that morning, but the third suspect fled. Read our earlier story here.

In other police news, two men were arrested Sunday afternoon in the 700 block of Goldenrod and booked on suspicion of vehicle theft, records state. The men, 18 and 19 years old from Albuquerque, N.M., were each held on $20,000 bail.

Early Monday, a 31-year-old Lake Elsinore man was arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs at East Coast Highway and Irvine Terrace. His bail was set at $25,000.

And on Monday morning, a Corona del Mar man reported that someone stole two lion statues from his front yard in the 300 block of Poppy Avenue. The loss was $1,100. On Sunday, a 50-year-old Orangewood man reported that someone used a hard object to break the window of his 2009 Kia in the 23000 block of Newport Coast Drive, causing $350 in damage.
