CCA Holiday Tree_DecorationsCrystal Cove State Beach will become be one of the most festive seaside spots in the state this Saturday, with a tree-lighting ceremony that will include live music, decorations and, of course, Santa.

Events will begin at 3 p.m., with Santa scheduled to arrive at 4 and the tree lighting to take place at sunset. Jazz vocalist Brenna Whitaker will perform, elves will be on hand, cottages will be lighted, there will be vintage decorations, giant candy canes and “Sandy” — a snowman made of sand. Organizers with the Crystal Cove Alliance said they hope children will build a community of snowmen on the beach.

“People tell us all year that it’s hard to add to the magic of Crystal Cove, but our vintage holiday decorations and tree lighting make Crystal Cove Beach Cottages more magical than ever,” said Laura Davick, founder of the Crystal Cove Alliance. The tree, she said, will be the only holiday tree display on the beach along the California Coast.

The free celebration — the thirteenth annual tree lighting — will include carolers and hot apple cider.
