Newport Beach Fire Department crews quickly put out a small brush fire about 11:15 a.m. today along the southbound 73 Toll Road. The fire, about an eighth of an acre, caused no evacuations or threats to structures, said Jennifer Schulz, a fire department spokeswoman.

Drivers reported that the Newport Coast entrance to the road was briefly closed.
