po11A trio of car burglars smashed into four or five vehicles overnight along Morning Canyon Road, but two of the suspects had been arrested by dawn today, police said. Police investigators discovered property stolen from several cars that had the windows smashed. A third suspect was believed to be in the Shore Cliffs neighborhood.

Newport Beach Police used the AlertOC system about 8 a.m., telling neighbors to be on the lookout for a 19-year-old man, white, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, 125 pounds with short dark hair. He was wearing a long-sleeve blue sweatshirt and jeans. Although police don’t believe he is dangerous, they urged anyone who saw the suspect to call 911.

Earlier today, police cars were stationed at both entrances along East Coast Highway, as well as on driveways of homes on Evening Canyon, Morning Canyon and Driftwood road. A police dog also searched the area. Newport Beach Lt. Rob Morton said the third suspect had been identified, and he was confident he would soon be in custody. No further details were immediately available, but he added that the areas were safe for residents.
