A Corona del Mar man left a garage door open for 30 minutes Wednesday afternoon — giving access to a burglar who stole $355 worth of items, police records state. The incident occurred after 1 p.m. in the 2500 block of Bungalow Place.
Just before 6 p.m. Wednesday, an animal bite was reported in the 1500 block of Bonnie Doone Terrace, reports state. Details were not immediately available.
In other police news, a 45-year-old woman in the 700 block of Jasmine Avenue told police on Friday that someone pried open a sliding glass door to her home, stealing a laptop, jewelry and cash. The loss was $1,780 with $30 damage, records state.
And on Saturday, a 26-year-old Covina woman reported someone using a tool to break the lock of her Toyota Corolla parked in the 700 block of Newport Center Drive. The suspect cut a battery cable to the car and stole four pair of jeans. Police had no damage estimate, but the property was valued at $175, records state.
Also, 28-year-old Torrance man was arrested about 10:30 p.m. Monday on suspicion of disorderly conduct on Newport Center Drive. His bail was set at $500. Also Monday, a 29-year-old Costa Mesa man was arrested on suspicion of petty theft at Neiman Marcus at 601 Newport Center Drive. The arrest occurred at 2:05 p.m.; the man’s bail was set at $500. On Saturday, police arrested two people on suspicion of commercial burglary at a Limited store at 817 Newport Center Drive. A man, 44, of Northridge, and a woman, 35, of Van Nuys, each had bail set at $20,000.
On Sunday, workers from the Hollister store at Fashion Island reported that someone had cut security tags from clothing and stolen items, records state. The theft occurred between Nov. 1 and Nov. 8, and police said the cost of the items was unknown.
