Car Burglaries Update

Police have released details about a string of car burglaries that occurred overnight in Corona del Mar in the same neighborhood.

At Poinsettia and Seaview avenues, an unknown suspect smashed out the rear right passenger side window of a 2008 mercedes E350, said Sgt. Evan Sailor. There was no property loss and it was unknown what type of object was used. The burglary occurred overnight between 8 p.m. and 7:50 a.m.

At Poppy and Seaview avenues, an unknown suspect smashed out the driver’s side window of a 1998 S70 Volvo. The center console was ransacked, but the victim said nothing appeared to be taken, Sailor said. This occurred overnight between 3 p.m. and 6:30 a.m.

In the 300 block of Poppy Avenue, an unknown suspect smashed the driver’s side window to a 2005 Land Rover. A watch, camera, backpack and money valuing totaling $3,485 was taken. This occurred overnight between 9:30 p.m. and 7:45 a.m.

Also in the 300 block of Poppy Avenue, an unknown suspect smashed out the driver’s side window to a 2008 Land Rover. Music CDs were taken from the center console. The loss was $90. This occurred overnight between 9:30 p.m. and 7:45 a.m.

Sailor said there apparently was a fifth vehicle burglary, but details were not available. Read our original story here.
