A “V.I.P. Value Card” offering special deals at Corona del Mar businesses could be launched by early December.
The Corona del Mar Business Improvement District board voted unanimously today to mail letters to 400 Corona del Mar merchants, explaining the program and gauging interest. If merchants agree, cards will be printed and distributed to community members, who could present the cards at participating businesses for a variety of deals, specials or discounts. The program would cost initially $5,000. If there is enough interest by Nov. 2, cards will be available in time for the annual Christmas Walk on Dec. 6.
Some BID members said they weren’t sure if they would want to participate, but Port Restaurant owner Ali Zadeh said he thinks the cards will reward loyal customers and be a draw for local businesses.
