The Dealing for Duchenne fundraising poker tournament and party held Saturday night has raised $450,000, Paul Miller said today. Miller and his wife, Debra, founded Cure Duchenne in 2003 after their only son was diagnosed with the most common form of muscular dystrophy; they are both pictured at left.
About 250 people attended the event at the Newport Marriott and Spa, which featured live and silent auctions and performances from the band Pinch Me! Read our earlier story here.
“The funds will go support a gene therapy project with Dr. Jeff Chamberlain at the University of Washington and an adult stem cell project in Italy,” Debra Miller said. “We also are supporting Duchenne research at UCLA.”
The event also included a preview of a film on the Climb to CureDuchenne; the film will be released Tuesday. Read about Mount Rainier climb here.
