Newport Beach/CdM To Celebrate National Library Week

This is National Library Week, and local library branches will hold special programs every day for children and adults.

Events will begin tonight, Monday, at 7 p.m. with Pajama Storytime with City Manager Homer Bludau at the Central Library.

At 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Council Member Nancy Gardner will host a Preschool Story Time at the Corona del Mar Branch Library.

On Wednesday at 9:30 a.m., Council Member Steve Rosansky hosts Toddler Storytime at the Central Library.

Also on Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the Central Library Friends Room, there will be a children’s program called Balloon Reading Advenutre, featuring Annie Banannie with her balloon art. No reservations required.

On Thursday at 10:30 a.m., Mayor Ed Selich will host Preschool Story Time at the Central Library.

The library’s Distinguished Speaker Lecture Series will feature physicist Brian Greene, author of “The Elegant Universe,” for a lecture and book signing on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Central Library Friends Room. Earlier on Saturday, Greene will conduct a Q & A for high school students only; 11 a.m. also at the Central Library Friends Room.

National Library Week is celebrated across the country every April to recognize the contributions of our nation’s libraries, to support and promote library use and to encourage reading.
