Newport Beach police took a report of a grand theft with a $205,400 loss in the 22700 block of Pelican Hill Road South on Monday, according to a report. The theft occurred between 1:30 and 2:21 p.m.
“Officers were called to a restaurant, where a patron claimed that his duffle bag had been stolen,” said Jennifer Manzella, a department spokeswoman. “He stated that he had entered the establishment with two bags, but found that he was only in possession of one of them after he completed his meal. Witnesses at the restaurant reported that they never saw the second bag. The reported loss was the contents of the second bag, including clothing and two Rolex watches.”
Police also took a report of a grand theft with a $1,195 loss on Monday in the 900 block of Newport Center Drive. That theft occurred at 12:33 p.m.
Police arrested four people early Tuesday in the 23000 block of Newport Coast Drive, according to reports. A woman, 37, of Anaheim, was arrested at midnight and booked on suspicion of false personation of another, two misdemeanor warrants, possession of narcotics, possession of a controlled substance for sale and possession of a controlled substance in prison. Her bail was $25,000. A man, 40, of Anaheim, was arrested at 1:16 a.m. and booked on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance, false personation of another, and narcotics possession. His bail also was $25,000. A woman, 26, of Huntington Beach was arrested at 2:36 a.m. and booked on suspicion of possession of unlawful paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance. Her bail was $2,500. And a man, 37, of Newport Beach, was arrested at 2:48 a.m. and booked on suspicion of narcotics possession; bail was $2,500.
Police also arrested a 19-year-old Laguna Beach man at 1:08 p.m. Monday in the 900 block of Newport Center Drive on suspicion of grand theft; his bail was $20,000, according to a report.
