Cameo Highlands Woman Interrupts Repeat Car Burglar, Police Say

A woman in the 600 block of Rockford Road woke up at 3:30 a.m. Monday to the sound of her blaring car alarm, police said. She went to investigate, didn’t see anything suspicious and returned to sleep.
The next morning she found the windows smashed on her BMW. Police believe a car thief who had burglarized four other vehicles had broken her car’s window, triggering the alarm. When she checked, either her presence or the alarm, or both, scared the suspect away. But a package that was in plain sight in the BMW was not taken, so police believe the suspect was too afraid to return.
The other burglarized cars were on Dorchester Road and Cameo Highlands Drive. One theft was $85, a wallet; another was a $400 speaker; another involved a laptop and other items. Read our original story here.
