Here's what I don't get. If everyone in CdM hates leaf blowers, then who are the people in CdM who hire the gardeners who use leaf blowers? There seems to be some contradiction here.

I completely agree and support Stephanie as well the ban! I also think Delores' response is spot on! really people, it's not the the gardners, it's the clients that pay them. If the client said out right, no blowers, if you want to work for me, you will NOT use blowers, you will sweep and rake. Do we really think the gardners will tell to take a hike? no, of course not, they would pick up a broom, collect their money and be thankful they have a job. Let's not place all the blame on the gardners, let's simply take it upon ourselves to make this simple, meaningful change in behavior and expectations. Would'nt it be strange if we tried it ourselves, we might find it theraputic???? it certainly would be nice and quiet, not to mention cleaner. THANK YOU FOR REPORTING THIS STORY! I LOVE THIS SITE!!!!
