We were driving out of Corona del Mar along MacArthur Boulevard early this afternoon when we saw a kind of skywriting that we’d never seen before. It was clearly self-advertising — skytypers.com — a company that began skywriting the old-fashioned way in the 1930s but then re-created a system in the 1940s using multiple airplanes that pop out puffs of “eco-friendly vapor” that seemed like smoke. The result we saw created words kind of like a celestial dot matrix printer. It was fun to watch, but it seemed like it just might be a traffic hazard.
Did you see the Skytypers ad today? Have you seen that style of skywriting before?
