Corona del Mar Hosts Car Classic Today

rollsIt’s one of Corona del Mar’s biggest events of the year: The Coastline Car Classic, opening at 10 a.m. Sunday in the Big Corona State Beach parking lot. More than 120 cars will be on display including Michael Harrah’s 1930 Armored Cadillac Imperial Sedan, which was originally owned by Al Capone and has glass windows with ports cut out for mobster activity, as well as 1917 Pierce Arrow 48B originally owned by George M. Cohan, in which he is believed to have written the song “Over There” while driving. There also will be a replica of the Batmobile from the 1989 movie, and a 30 high-speed 575/AA/FL Bonneville Lakester will be shown by Bud Rasner of Corona del Mar.

The event, which also will feature live music, will benefit he Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation. Tickets cost $10 in advance or $15 at the gate; kids under 12 are free. For more information, call (949) 673-4050 or visit the event website.
