Vandals used purple and silver paint three times in the past day, covering a 6-by-4-foot cable box located at Spy Glass Hill Road and Mission Bay Drive, police records state. The vandalism, on an AT&T cable box, occurred between 10 a.m. Tuesday and 2:10 p.m. Wednesday. Also on Wednesday, police were investigating a vandalism case involving a swastika that was painted on a cable junction box at Spyglass Hill Road and Point Mendocino Way. In other police news, someone stole a Dell desktop computer from the business Center of a hotel at 900 Newport Center Drive, records state. The theft occurred between noon Sunday and 7:20 a.m. Wednesday. The loss was $1,000. Also, 62-year-old Corona del Mar man said that a suspect took $3 in items from his car while it was parked in the 3500 block of East Coast Highway sometime between 1:30 and 2 p.m. Tuesday. And a 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol at 2:12 a.m. Thursday; his bail was set at $2,500.
