One Response to “Balboa Island Losing Teddy Bears & Tea Cups”

The owner of a beloved Balboa Island’s children’s boutique has sold the business and will be closing permanently after ten years.
“Thank you for all of your support,” Mary Sarris, the owner, said in an email blast to customers on Monday. “We have enjoyed celebrating tea with so many of you — we are going to miss all of your friendships, your smiles and those of your children.”
The shop at 225 Marine Ave. had a party room for etiquette classes and girls’ birthday parties, and sold clothes, dolls and carriages and other items in the front. Earlier this summer, customers of the store heard rumors that the business would move to Costa Mesa, but then on Monday they learned that the store was closing instead. Employees at the shop said they did not know what kind of business the new owner planned.
