A woman renting a home in the 500 block of Marigold Avenue returned from a vacation to find herself locked out and all her belongings gone, police said on Friday.
The 49-year-old woman, who also owns a business in Corona del Mar, was renting the property, which went into foreclosure without her knowledge, said Sgt. Evan Sailor. Her furniture, appliances, clothing and other items were all missing when she finally was able to get inside the home. The loss was $50,000, records state.
“They are trying to determine whether the old property owner took it, the financial institution took/sold it, or if unknown suspects took the property,” Sailor said. There was no sign of forced entry. The burglary occurred sometime between 10:30 a.m. July 7 and 10 a.m. Wednesday, the day the woman reported the crime.
