From the Police Log: Thief Nabs More than $40K in Jewelry From CdM Home

Police took a report of a grand theft with a loss of more than $40,000 in the 2600 block of Ocean Boulevard on Monday, according to a report.

The grand theft occurred between 5 p.m. March 12 and 5:30 p.m. Saturday, the report said. The theft was reported at 10:05 a.m. Monday, and the loss included several pieces of jewelry valued at $40,794.

There were no signs of forced entry into the home, police spokeswoman Kathy Lowe said in an email.

Police also took a report of a petty theft from a vehicle at Seaward Road and Shorecrest Lane at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. The theft, with a $510 loss, occurred between 5:30 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday, a report said. Officers took a report of a commercial burglary at 7:19 a.m. Sunday at 7886 East Coast Highway. The burglary occurred between 11:50 a.m. Saturday and 7:10 a.m. Sunday, and the loss was unknown, a report said.

Officers took a report of counterfeit currency at 22800 Pelican Hill Road South at 5:29 p.m. Monday, a report said. The incident occurred between noon and 5 p.m. Monday, and no loss was listed on the report. Police also took a report of a petty theft at Cafe R&D at 555 Newport Center Drive at 8:17 a.m. Friday, a report said. The theft occurred between 5 p.m. April 23 and 1 a.m. the next day with a $650 loss. A grand theft was reported at 2 p.m. Thursday at 660 Newport Center Drive. The theft, with a loss of $8,000, occurred between April 4 and 7. Officers also took a report of vandalism at 415 Newport Center Drive at 10:37 a.m. Friday. The vandalism occurred between 8 and 10 a.m. Friday with damage listed at $1,000.

Police arrested a 29-year-old Irvine man at 1:45 a.m. Sunday at Marguerite Avenue and East Coast Highway on suspicion of DUI; bail was $2,500. A 52-year-old West Hollywood woman was arrested at 2:30 a.m. Sunday at 1101 Newport Center Drive on suspicion of DUI; bail was $2,500. Officers arrested a 22-year-old Santa Ana man at 11:20 p.m. Sunday at East Coast Highway and Newport Coast Drive on suspicion of driving without a license; bail was $2,500. And officers arrested a 51-year-old Costa Mesa man at 9:15 p.m. Saturday at 3200 East Coast Highway on suspicion of disorderly conduct while intoxicated; bail was $500.

A 30-year-old La Mirada woman was arrested at 12:18 a.m. Thursday at Reef Point Drive and East Coast Highway on suspicion of possession of marijuana. The woman also had a warrant for her arrest, and no bail was set, according to a report. A 22-year-old Garden Grove man was arrested at 9:58 a.m. Thursday at 7832 East Coast Highway on suspicion of commercial burglary; bail was $20,000.

Officers arrested a 23-year-old Huntington Beach man at 1:50 p.m. Thursday at East Coast Highway and Morning Canyon Road on suspicion of DUI. The man, who also had a warrant for his arrest, had bail set at $15,000, a report said. Police arrested a 33-year-old Laguna Beach man at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Pelican Point Drive and East Coast Highway on suspicion of DUI; bail was $15,000.

Police took a report of a theft from a vehicle a 9:30 a.m. April 20 at 701 Newport Center Drive. The theft of $300 occurred between April 12 and 19, a report said. Officers also took a report of a vehicle burglary at East Coast Highway and Reef Point Drive at 8:59 p.m. Friday; no loss was reported.
