UPDATED for clarification.

A report of a dispute Tuesday night resulted in injuries, an arrest and the evacuation of some homes near Goldenrod Avenue, police said.

A woman called police at about 9:50 p.m. about the dispute at a home in the 300 block of Goldenrod Avenue, said police spokeswoman Kathy Lowe in an email.

“The female reported that she was involved in a physical altercation with another individual,” she wrote. “Officers attempted to contact the other individual at the home, without success.”

Several witnesses and neighbors said that four police vehicles, as well as fire vehicles, were at the scene, as well as a helicopter hovering overhead. At one point during the incident, which lasted several hours, officials were on a loudspeaker advising someone named Michael to put his hands up and come out, one neighbor said.

Officers evacuated nearby homes “to ensure the safety of those residents and entered the home, taking him into custody without further incident,” Lowe said.

The woman was injured and treated by paramedics, but information about her injuries were unknown, Lowe said.

The man was arrested and booked into the Newport Beach Police Department jail. His bail was $50,000, and he was booked on suspicion of assault with a firearm on a person. He has been released from the Orange County Jail, online logs state.

Wow, I've never seen a domestic affair draw a helicopter. Must have been really serious. Glad he was apprehended!
