From the Police Log: Reports of Shots, Burglary, Thefts

Newport Beach police received two reports this week of shots fired, according to online logs. One case was reported in the 500 block of Begonia Avenue at 1:03 a.m. today, and another incident was reported in the 300 block of Evening Canyon Road at 2:13 p.m. Tuesday. Investigating officers were not able to locate any shooter in either case, online logs state.

In other police news, a residential burglary occurred between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday in the 2700 block of Point Del Mar, according to a report. The burglary, which was reported at 7:53 p.m. Wednesday, resulted in a loss of $80.

Police made an arrest after a call to keep the peace at East Coast Highway and Avocado Avenue at 11:17 p.m. Thursday, online logs state.

Police took a report of a vehicle burglary at 101 Newport Center Drive at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday, according to a report. The burglary occurred between 4:50 and 9:03 p.m. Wednesday and caused $200 and resulted in a loss of $462.

Police also took two reports of theft from vehicles in Newport Coast, which they believe are connected. One incident occurred between 10 p.m. Monday and 6:50 a.m. Tuesday on Sable Sands. The theft resulted in a loss of $5,050 and was reported at 2:38 p.m. Tuesday. Damage to the vehicle was unknown, the report said. The other incident occurred between 8:30 p.m. Monday and 4:04 a.m. Tuesday on Sunset Cove. The grand theft, with a loss of $14,951, was reported at 8:13 p. Tuesday, a report said.
