The incident began at 2:45 p.m. when the Newport Beach Police Department received a call of possible gunshots fired in an office building, according to the statement.

“Responding Officers entered the building and immediately located the suspect and victim in an office located on the second floor,” the statement said. “The suspect was taken into custody without incident. The victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso and was pronounced dead at the scene. There were several people in the multi-tenant medical office complex at the time of the incident; however, there were no other reported injuries. The preliminary investigation indicates this was an isolated incident and does not represent an ongoing threat to public safety.”
