The Orange County Natural History Lecture Series will take a look at marine plankton at an event scheduled for Wednesday Feb. 6, organizers said.
Scientist Joana Tavares-Reager will present “Going with the Flow: The Beauty and Ecological Role of Marine Plankton” at the event, covering what plankton tells about water quality as well as plankton research and monitoring programs. Tavares-Reager has studied marine plankton and harmful algal blooms since 2000. She currently teaches oceanography at Fullerton, Saddleback and Chaffey community colleges.
The lecture will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Back Bay Science Center at 600 Shellmaker Road. The gates will open at 6:30 p.m. The event is free but reservations are recommended. Save your spot by emailing tidepools at newportbeachca dot gov.
