Newport Beach police arrested a 28-year-old Laguna Niguel woman early today on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, police reports state. The arrest occurred at East Coast Highway and Goldenrod Avenue at 1:07 a.m. The woman’s bail was set at $2,500.
Police also kept the peace today just before 6 a.m. at Ocean Boulevard and Jasmine Avenue and at 3:25 a.m. in the 23000 block of Newport Coast Drive, reports state. No further details were available.
Also this week, police said a woman reported losing $9,000 worth of property from her hotel room in the 22000 block of Pelican Hill Road. The 26-year-old Westlake Village woman said the theft occurred sometime between 5 p.m. June 19 and midnight June 21; she made the police report Wednesday afternoon.
On Thursday, a 62-year-old Corona del Mar man said that sometime between 9 a.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Wednesday, a suspect entered his home in the 2200 block of Waterfront Drive by removing a screen from an open window. The thief stole medication and a camera from a dresser in a bedroom before fleeing through a back door, records state. The loss was $600.
In the 700 block of Orchid Avenue, a 48-year-old woman reported on Thursday that suspects damaged a lock to her gate, causing $50 in damage. And in the 300 block of Poppy Avenue, a 33-year-old woman reported that she lost $5,300 in property when a suspect entered her home through an unlocked garage door.
Also, a man lost $290 and a gym bag from an unsecured locker in the 600 block of Newport Center Drive on Thursday evening while he took a shower, records state.
