The Newport Beach Citizens Bicycle Safety Committee will meet at 4:30 p.m. Monday in the Friends Room of the Central Library — a meeting that could be one of the group’s final gatherings unless its tenure is extended by the City Council in January.
The committee will hear staff update on bike safety projects, discuss the committee’s annual report and discuss concerns about maintenance vehicles that park in bike lanes on Newport Coast Drive, according to an online agenda. The group also will hear a police report on bicycle crash statistics and enforcement activities and discuss a possible January meeting date.
The meeting is open to the public, and the public may make comments.
The Bicycle Safety Committee was created in August 2010, and the City Council extended its tenure last year to Jan. 10, 2013. The group, which meets the first Monday of each month, could decide to meet one last time, on Jan. 7, 2013.
