A project that would replace an empty lot with a six-unit housing building and subterranean parking as well as add a second-floor office to Gallo’s Italian Deli may be on the Newport Beach Planning Commission’s Dec. 6 agenda.
The Plaza Corona del Mar project at 3900 and 3928 East Coast Highway requires a use permit, variance and modification permit, according to a Newport Beach city webpage, that would “allow the addition of 1,756-square-foot, second floor office building above an existing 535 square-fooot delicatessen.” The project also would build a detached six-unit building and parking structure in the area that has been used as a Christmas tree lot each year.
The application was first submitted in April 2010.
The Planning Commission meeting is scheduled for Dec. 6 in Council Chambers at City Hall at 3300 Newport Blvd.
