A grand theft from a vehicle in the 400 block of Heliotrope Avenue resulted in a $2,000 loss, a police report said. The burglary occurred between 10 p.m. Nov. 8 and 7 a.m. the next day and was reported at 7:26 a.m. Nov. 9.
Police also took two reports of grand thefts, which they believe are connected, in the 100 block of Newport Center Drive. One theft occurred between 2 p.m. Nov. 9 and 8:15 a.m. Tuesday with a loss of $7,000, and the other incident occurred between 3 p.m. Nov. 9 and 6 a.m. Tuesday. In that case, the loss was $3,250 and $100 damage. Another grand theft with a loss of $11,400 occurred between 3 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. Nov. 11 in the 1000 block of Newport Center Drive, a report said. And a vehicle burglary was reported at 6:35 p.m. Nov. 10 at 600 Newport Center Drive. The burglary, which occurred between 5 and 6:30 p.m. Nov. 10, resulted in a loss of $540 and $300 in damage.
Police arrested a 36-year-old Newport Beach man on suspicion of DUI at MacArthur Boulevard and Harbor View Drive at 3:10 p.m. Tuesday; bail was $7,500. A 26-year-old Costa Mesa man was arrested on suspicion of failure to stop on Newport Center Drive at 5:10 p.m. Wednesday. The man’s bail was $500, but a report indicates he had a $27,000 warrant.
