Hi! They are shorebirds, but they are not snowy plovers. You won't see snowies running back and forth close to the waves like that. You will see them more at the wrack line or resting up in the sand. Snowies have shorter beaks. But that is a beautiful photo, thanks for sharing it!!

Thanks for this note; I updated the headline after checking with the city's marine life expert, Michelle Clemente. She said, "They are not snowy plovers…they are sanderlings. However, snowy plovers do go near waves."
