Newport Beach firefighters and lifeguards responded to Little Corona beach about 3:26 p.m. Sunday after a woman was injured near the tidepools.

Firefighters and lifeguards arrived on the beach, driving a lifeguard truck onto the sand.

“The patient was sitting on the rocks near the tide pools,” said Ron Gamble, a Newport Beach Fire Department Division Chief, in an email. The woman was assessed, then moved in a Stokes basket, which is similar to a backboard with sides, to a lifeguard vehicle, he said.

“She was then transported off the beach by the lifeguard vehicle to a private vehicle (off the patients request) to follow up at a hospital or doctor office,” he said.
