A group of ten Corona del Mar children gathered in the 3400 block of East Coast Highway today, painting ghosts, spiderwebs, bats and pumpkins on shop windows as part of the First Annual Halloween window painting event.
Josette Patterson, owner of Mark Patterson Jewelry, supplied the paints and brushes and organized the event, which she said was a tradition in the town where she lived in New York.
“It was a family event,” she said. “I thought it would be nice to bring it to Corona del Mar.”
She hopes to include more merchants and children next year, she said.
Graviti Fitness, Coast Hearing Aid Center and a soon-to-be-opened MindBodySkin business also participated.
Kimberly Valentine-Poska said her son, Matthew, 10, enjoyed the event and looks forward to participating again.
“What a wonderful tradition,” she said.
