A driver lost control of his pickup truck while turning onto MacArthur Boulevard from East Coast Highway about 9 a.m. today, crashing into a light pole that fell on top of the truck.
The driver, who was the truck’s only occupant, complained of pain but refused medical treatment, said Lt. Evan Sailor in an email.
The Chevy truck suffered major damage on the driver’s side and hood and was towed from the scene, Sailor said.
“It appears he was at fault for the accident in violation of unsafe speed,” Sailor said. The truck also had two bald front tires, which contributed to the crash. The roadway was wet when the truck began to slide, he said.
The truck hit the light pole near Harbor View Drive.
