The Corona del Mar Residents Association will host a “State of Corona del Mar & 2012 City Election Information Meeting” from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at the OASIS Senior Center.
The first half hour of the event will include a chance to meet City Council candidates and representatives of both sides of the proposed Measure EE charter amendment. Police and fire representatives, as well as members of the Bicycle Safety Committee, Neighborhood Watch and CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) programs will be available to answer questions and provide information. Refreshments will be served.
The formal program will give a chance for City Council candidates to make statements. Incumbents Ed Selich and Keith Curry and new candidate Tony Petros are running unopposed; Curry will not be attending the event, according to a posted agenda.
The program also includes a planned discussion of Measure EE, which would amend the city’s charter, and an overview of projects and safety concerns in Corona del Mar. A Q&A session also is planned.
The event will be held in the Evelyn Hart Event Room at the senior center at Marguerite and Fifth avenues.
